40 mini lesson packed with ideas.
Enrol Today ÂŁ35Ready to create a fun collage with magazine images?
Don't throw away that old magazine.
There's a sketchbook hiding inside it.
In this fun, hands-on mini course, we'll dive into the pages of ordinary magazines and transform them into bold, black-and-white collages, filled with striking shapes, expressive hand-drawn lines, and compositions that flow freely across your sketchbook.
No plans. No pressure.
Just cutting, layering, and responding in the moment as the work reveals itself.
What you'll create
Abstract compositions that feel alive, a lively mix of soft and sharp edges, delicate lines, and punchy graphic forms.
Work that spills across multiple pages of your sketchbook, surprising you as it unfolds.
What's inside the lesson
Over 40 minutes, I'll guide you through:
• How to look at magazines with fresh eyes, seeing shapes instead of images
• Using a passepartout to isolate and discover unexpected compositions
• Building abstract collages that flow across multiple pages
• Layering torn and cut shapes with hand-drawn marks and lines
•Responding intuitively, letting the work lead the way

Pairs beautifully with Abstracts
Â
This lesson was originally created for Lydia Rink's Mixed Media Festival 2025, and it pairs wonderfully with my Abstracts course:Â based on a weekend workshop dedicated to exploring materials in a non-representational way.
Â
Together, they're a perfect pairing for anyone ready to loosen up and play.
